Hello, I’m Rina!
I’m a freelance illustrator and sometimes graphic designer based in Ontario, Canada. I live with my husband and our two lively and sometimes very naughty Bengal cats. Aside from my love of drawing, I’m also fond of design, my garden sanctuary, animation and animals. I guess that’s why I tend to gravitate towards that kind of imagery in my art. I still remember all my past pets, even a pet frog I once smuggled into my bedroom, unbeknownst to my parents. Growing up, we were never allowed to have any pets so I found a way around that, haha! That’s probably why I can be a little obsessed with drawing animals; I love portraying them with a cartoony slant and that stems from my love of animation.
While I didn’t graduate from a traditional art school, I have taken a lot of classes from various art schools over the years (Sheridan College, Schoolism, Aaron Blaise and Skillshare). While working, I completed an animation certificate from Sheridan. I feel it’s important to keep improving, so I continue to learn and upgrade my skills as time permits.
Over the years, I’ve worked on a variety of creative projects, including illustrations for kids and adults, and design work across publishing, corporate, and branding disciplines. My portfolio includes character design, concept development, background art, logos, comics, and more. I’ve designed icons for mobile interfaces, created character designs, made short comics, made public service illustrations, and created t-shirt designs for companies to showcase their products. Due to client confidentiality, there is a lot of work I am unable to post, but do contact me for examples if you have a project in mind.
